Arthur Fils gets biggest win of his career against Ugo Humbert

Superstar of the future, Arthur Fils, gets the biggest win of his young career against compatriot Ugo Humbert in Tokyo Open Final.

What a week it was for the young Arthur Fils.

The 20-year-old French prodigy overcame a number of top competitors to get the biggest win of his career as he claimed the Tokyo 500.

Fils lost the first set to the world number 19 Humbert 7-5 and looked down and out in set 2 when Humbert brought up championship point in the tiebreak.

Fils was well behind in the rally as Humbert looked to pounce on his opportunity and claim the title, but Fils had other ideas and pulled off an astonishing back hand pass, on the stretch, to save the set. He won the next two points in the breaker and took the final to a deciding set.

Fresh off the back of his exceptional end to set two, Fils dominated the final set, taking it 6-3 and sealing the deal with a huge ace down the t.

With this victory, Fils will hope to kick on to more success in Masters events and maybe even Grand Slams in the future.

At only 20, he has bags of potential.

2025 could be a big year for Arthur Fils.

In other news Kei Nishikori made an excellent return to his home tournament in Tokyo, reaching the quarter-finals, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals following a close loss to Holger Rune.
